Smoldering embers, burning cloves, juicy orange, golden saffron, endless forest under wings, soot on feathers, soft flame, and a stolen apple.

This is a rich, golden scent that emulates the golden apples and warm flame of the Firebird. Tendrils of smoke and hints of bright, juicy orange combine with the scent of flying over the treetops in a lush, evergreen forest. Smudgy soot and cloves ground the brightness of the fruit, but together they soar much like the Firebird itself.

The Firebird was a magical bird in Slavic folklore that was a clever thief of the Czar's prized golden apples. None of the Czar's men could catch sight of her, as she would steal only under the cover of darkness, and so he ordered the thief captured and brought to him.

One night, Ivan was walking in the royal orchard and saw the beautiful Firebird eating the golden apples. Ivan captured the Firebird, but she promised him one of her magical feathers if he set her free.

The next morning Ivan brought the Czar the feather, glittering and alight with a soft flame. The Czar demanded Ivan bring him the Firebird, or he would take his head.

Ivan walked into the forest and began to weep, and the Firebird came willingly to settle on his open palm. The Czar saw that Ivan had accomplished this impossible task, and bid him to capture a beautiful princess from a foreign land for him, or he would kill him.

Ivan had no chance but to go to the foreign princess and capture her, and bring her back to the Czar. When she was presented to the Czar she began to weep and refused to marry the old Czar, unless the man who captured her was boiled alive in oil.

However, she had a change of heart and in secret she enchanted the oil not to harm Ivan, as he had always treated her with kindness, and on the road they had begun to fall in love. When Ivan was dipped in the oil, he was unharmed, and was somehow even more comely. Seeing this, the Czar threw himself into the oil as well, but was boiled alive.

And so the princess and Ivan were married, and lived happily ever after.

Love it!

This is a great scent, I love the combination of smoke/soot, round spices, and fruits. After the scent settles you get more of the fresh air notes, which settle to being pretty soapy/powdery on me (I actually love the way it plays out, but it was definitely not my expectation). Overall, a very evocative and unusual scent that is still grounded and pleasant. I love wearing it when I'm all bundled up for a bitterly cold day, or just after getting out of a good bath/shower. The added nostalgia factor of a well-worn story is just the icing on the cake.

Flawless Autumn Scent

This perfume surprised me with how perfect the blend of fruit and smoke and burning herbs is. I was worried it would be really sweet which I usually don’t like in my limited experience with perfumes, but I mostly smell burning cloves and a hint of the apple and orange. This makes me want to wear this at a harvest festival, it feels like the spirit of the Autumn season.

Delicious

Omg this scent is everything I love about the cooler months. It is spicy, slightly fruity, and just overall intoxicating. I have never smelled anything like it. Truly unique. Will definitely be getting the larger size version. Love.

Everything I have ever loved about perfume, encapsulated in one tiny bottle.

This is, by far, one of the most unusual scents I have ever tried. The very first thing I smell when I put it on is nothing but apple. It IMMEDIATELY disappears, within ten seconds, only to be replaced by the smell of smoke, of things burning. The smoldering embers and soot immediately come through as the apple is fading fast—"stolen apple" is EXACTLY right to describe that top note. It is almost as though the apple is being burned right off the skin. Burning cloves come next. At this point, there is something almost waxy, almost candle-like about the scent. It is all kinds of burnt and beautiful.

Then—I've never had anything like this—the apple COMES BACK, and the orange emerges for the first time as well. As I type this out, I am realizing the timing of the notes plays out almost literally like a phoenix reborn from the ashes. All the bright, living notes of the fruit emerge from the dark, smoky base underneath them totally refreshed, renewed, and strong, all harmonizing with each other. This is one of the most theatrical scents I have ever tried on, and reminds me why I care so much about perfume, why I have spent six years collecting samples. There is a STORY in this scent in a way I have never before experienced in all my years of collecting! Not just the personality of a character or the atmosphere of a place, but an actual sequence of connected events—a STORY—in this perfume. I am floored.

Beautiful!

This is a PERFECT fall and winter scent. The apple is lovely and photorealistic, and balances perfectly with the woods and smoke. Just so gorgeous. A great unisex smoky scent, very well balanced, not too smoky or woody, and not too sweet!!
Please give time to settle after shipping, and don’t judge the scent based on a paper swatch! This was my and my partner’s least favorite of the 13 scents I ordered at first, but that is certainly not my opinion now! I will be buying a full size of this!
